Girdle or no Girdle?
Well I ran into a hell of a problem; while replacing the friction disc on my fidanza flywheel, the threads inside the crank, stripped, while pulling one bolt out.
In the mean time I will use a same size helicoil M10X1 but eventually I will end up swapping a 8CW crank from a DE I have and my question is:
-Would I need to swap the girdle as well?
keeping in mind I'm planning on staying NA and I dont want to add more weight with it.

You do not need to put in the girdle.

The girdle will actually cause you to loose about 5-7 WHP, proven on a dyno.

The SR20VE 20V comes 8 CWC with no girdle.

I would stay with the 4CWC as it is an advatage in rev speed. If you go 8 CWC get it knifedged take off about 4-6 pounds and you will get the best of both worlds.

Well I've read a few threads where fixed stripped bolts on flywheels backed out sometimes. If mine holds 70 FT/lbs of torque with the helicoil then I will leave it as 4CW. I've already ordered the M10X1 helicoil kit which was nearly impossible to find.
Mr Miko do you have any expericed with problems like these?
