so the possibility of using the maz flange on the qr tranny does seem interesting.... just wondering if an axle change would be in order.... n where to get the qr tranny

Well, i have a pnt30 x-trail 2003. Automatic tranny in here. No CVT! if someone want to swap MT, must have a gtir mt tranny and so on. I know a guy, who want to swap mt into GT x-trail, and i'm waiting the process...it will be soon...very soon.

about starter's problem: overheating may be. Need to clean tranny and change AT Fluid after cleaning.

please keep this thread active with the progress of the auto to manual swap on the gt.... that would be really awesome to have this documented

Hi! actualy swap of GTir trany to x-trail is not that easy, my friend installing now 4wd manual trany from Bluebird attessa - he remade completely everything!

do we have any option to install anlogous but more stronger automatic trany in x-trail GT?

Bluebird gearbox not much different from GTI-R gearbox really. Strength is the same at least.

If you want stronger and can do fabrication/modification, try Mistubishi EVO gearbox.
