Forced induction guys- emmisions question
Im moving to Austin- Round Rock area in a month or two. I have a 1999 Infiniti G20 with a gtir swap. I have plans of going gt3076r and aem by end of summer. Are emmisions hard to pass? can you register the car w/o it? is there a fine or fee? DO they typically give you a hard time? Any help is greatly appreciated

as long as your check engine light isn't on, and you have 3 out of 5 statuses (ie: cat, HO2, O2, evap, and egr)

If you have an gti-r motor you might be obd1. You probably need to be obd2 with the consult plug in with no CEL's like mr. rocket said.

Right now I'm in orlando, fl. We don't have any emissions... as amatter of fact I'm not even running a catalytic converter and haven't on any of my cars for yrs.

I'm not throwing any cels at the moment on usdm ecu and an afc neo. I didn't do the swap my self so I really don't know what had to be done cel free. My mechanic seems to think it will be ok as long as I put the cat back in. thx for the info guys

AFAIK, the AEM standalone will NOT be emissions compliant (and since your car was/is at minimum OBD 2, that means no consult port for the emissions tester to plug his diagnostic tool into, which means instant fail).

Your best bet for tune and emissions compliance would be a Nistune setup.

Or move outside of travis or williamson counties haha. I have a 95 & 92, so as long as they pass the tailpipe test Im good. I run a jwt, so I would suppose any stock ecu with daughterboard would be fine.

Rockett (or wtf his name is hahahah) knows about getting turbo b14's to pass emissions inspection.
First thing is you WILL need a cat. They could also get you for no egr as well.

LOLOLOL this is not TRS Dee..

If you're running an USDM ecu, and a afc neo, with no CEL, you should be fine.
