Help guys! Emission woe
my car 98 SE failed emission because check engine light show up. Code P1400, had the autozone guy scan...failed "EGR solonoid"

is the the EGR valve itself and how hard to replace it? it cost 100 bucks, no biggie, I just don't want to do the illegal way and next year do it again. I just want to fix it already. Help!

the solenoid and egr valve from my understanding is 2 different things. i know this cuz i replaced both already

solenoid i got for my GA was from greg brand new or you can get it from courtesy.

i too need my EGR light fixed but dont know where to take it too. im also tired of doing it the illegal way cuz it harder. so i need help too.

i also sent you a pm about your mechanic too.

I had this problem on my 96 se on now on my 96 se-r. All i did was go to a junkyard and pull one off a a wrecked car. I couldn't find one for the se-r so i just grabbed one from a nissan altima. The elec. connections are a lil different so you have to break off some of the connector plastic. It might also look a lil different but it does the same job. To check if the solenoid works remove it and hook up 12 volts to it. One pin to the + and the other to the - of the battery. You should hear a click when you apply voltage, if you don't then it is faulty. I did this and found out my stock one was no good and I also checked the altima solenoid befor I installed it and it worked. I cleared the check engine light with my scantool and it hasn't turned on since..

You know what, I might just go and pull one out of an NX I saw at the junkyard.
You meant the EGR valve or the EGR valve solonoid?
