Proud new owner of the B13 GTIR!
Just introducing myself to the forums! Recently purchased a B13 that has been floating around the forums for some time now. I bought the car and later that day had a little miss-hap, got a little cocky going into 4th and missed a gear (s*** happens) and revved her up to about 7200rpm. Immediately the car shut off, no weird noises or anything crazy, just shut off. Got the car towed to a local shop and I pulled the valve cover off and found I had destroyed the rocker arms. Only 2 rocker arms were still intact, the rest were tossed about and all of the shims were floating around. Gave the previous owner a call to see what he thought and he was more help than I could have imagined. Got me in touch with a guy who is pulling my motor and swapping in a fresh Bluebird DET as I type this. Should be getting the car back today or tomorrow. This was a good lesson learned for me. The rest of the car is in fantastic shape! I have a few near sighted plans, mostly cleaning up a bit of wiring from the battery relocation and tucking some fuse boxes in the engine bay away and out of sight. I also want to try and hide some of the unnecessary connectors to clean up the bay a bit more. I also would like to re-do the intercooler piping.
After all of this, my next step is to figure out what ECU/Tuning I want to go with. It is currently tuned on a MAP-ECU w/ a NA ECU. The N/A timing is hurting my power band for sure! I made right around 360hp corrected at ~5900ft above sea level. This is all for now and I will update as my project gets moving along!
