you cant compare the two at all when it comes to all motor. cc for cc the sr is better. granted the spec is heavier.

i would enjoy a fully bolted on qr in a b13, but at the end of the day the sr20 or the ve is a better choice faster in every aspect.

this argument has been gone over since the dawn of the qr. it shall never change, the sr is a better motor.

stratton.

And how many SR's have you gone thru in your time?

Compare that to how many QR's have failed....yes we've had precat issues, and the butterfly screws coming loose, but other than that??????

SR's have failed for a bunch of other reason i don't care to list because there have been mentioned repeatedly in the other thread.

VE's are old tech man, get with the times. We've met many times in person at DPA and at JMR etc... I never assumed you would be as close minded as this.

But anyhow, give these guys a damn chance, let's see what they do with it. If they get one SR lover to convert, or even agree that they did something right then they have done good.

LMAO...no but they pull a premium regardless. The QR motors are hell expensive, I'm not going to lie about that. A VE is half the price.

To the NY guys.....take a stroll down to the B15U annual bbq this year (advertising will be up in a few months) and come see what the B15 community is now...we've made quite a few strides being as small as we are.

Even if we are the bastard child, we will still do as we do. We have made a niche and fit into it. I think the B15 community is quite calm, well mannered and non abusive compared to some other communities out there. I am glad to be a part of it.

Of course it can be done. I see 700+hp QR's in the future...but time and money. Gimme an interest free loan and I'll do it.

High RPM talk is not just left to Hondas its left to more performance oriented engines..

Look at the redlines of the following cars :

  • Audi R8
  • BMW M3 ( E46+ )
  • 4G63 EVOS
  • B Series
  • K Series
  • Audi RS4

Enough Said.. QR is not as performance oriented of a motor PERIOD.. Yeah you can make power on anything with enough displacement.

Youll never see a QR like this :

Being able to rev and grab a fatter power band goes hand in hand with more performance oriented engine.

Gio has tuned a few QR's, one made 44x whp on e85 piston and rod motor only. Not quick or fast though for the power it made. They make 300-320whp easy on 10-11 psi but with the rev range you can't really enjoy the power, they are ok motors but are antique motors for their time, even when they came out.

I like them personally, perfect for daily driving. But for performance right now, SR > QR. With another ten years the qr should have some good things going for it.

BTW bolt on de's beat bolt on qr's here, from day one.

Its not SR vs QR for us. Its more about doing.

We could have built a VE track car.... easily..... But we do this because we enjoy it... The same old same old gets boring.....

we were set on a VE swap, but then the whole donor car popped up for less than a VE.... Win win

this wasn't some drawn out "what if" project or thread on a forum. 2 days and the whole subframe and everything attached is in the B13. We go work our 9-5's this week, and next weekend it'll be running. Then it's running a 16 hour race at Road Atlanta.

and..... Where a 2.5 fits, a 3.5 will fit

Exactly, I know 2j had the donor car there and ready to go to swap everything so it makes it easier but someone had to pay for that donor car at some point in time.

The VE is not that old technology and like strat said. CC for CC there arnt many motors that compare. At 205whp roughly 235-240 at the crank, that is 115-120hp/liter Again even bolted on there arnt too many motors that can make those numbers.

Who the hell are you to say never? IS your name Miss Cleo or are you the guy with the time machine?

And I never said anything about the QR being a performance engine, I said the things that people have done to them with the little that is available is amazing.

IT"S A FRIGGEN TRUCK MOTOR, GO READ MY POSTS BEFORE YOU PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH.

Yeah like P10FTW said, even a turbod QR with 300 or 400whp, it just doesnt have that fat powerband that the SR has. The short revs of the QR ruin it.
