even if you do them right , upgrade the pistons/rods/rob bolts they tend to be unreliable , like its hard to get 20k out of one built right. Most of the time its due to oil starvation , the b18b does not have oil squirters like vtec blocks. ever once in a while someone builds one right that will last 100k+ miles , but its rare.

It sounds like your are leaning more toward boost to me. Boost your de, lots of folks on here have good luck and make very decent power. There is honestly a whole world of knowldege at your diposal on here with the click of one button. You have some of the best SR tuners around within your fingertips and the years and years of r/d to get to the point its at now. Good luck with your swap.
