Guys, sorry, you REALLY need to pay attention to what it did to your cars. You actually LOST ultimate deceleration capacity when you didn't re-balance your bias. Under racing conditions, with the proper pads, of course, you maintained a greater long term capacity than with the stock front rotors because the 22's kept cooler than the little guys would have, but YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN FASTER had you re-balanced your brake bias. BEST solution for the track, of course, is to put bias adjusters in line, but that requires cutting, something I chose not to do for a street car. The classic was valved for those tiny 18's up front. With 22vf leverage up front, the bias went from optimal to MUCH more front bias. 8/10 driving they'll work fine. When you need 'em to duck the idiot in front of you, THAT's when you need the extra few percent. That's when the difference is having your car the next day vs. sending it to the yard - hopefully with you not in it.

THE reason you're getting no wear on the rear pads IS THEY'RE NOT WORKING! And if you're getting the same results with a car with too much front bias and a car with adjustable valving, then Joe's car with the adjustable valving hasn't been optimized. And if 99% of the people wouldn't notice, that simply means that 99% can't drive well enough to feel their cars. YES, we're only talking about a few percent here - but it should be worth a good second off Road Atlanta, for example (because you can consistently go deeper before braking, particularly 1, 5, 6, and 10a), and that's enough to get a WHOLE lot closer to those 1-2 Hondas.

Oh, yes, Kev, of course, bending the sheet out of the way would work fine. Envy your sheet experience, would love to have it. I suspect most folks pull the splash guard off for racing in the dry, and it wouldn't be worth the time, I suspect, to put them on for a rain run - brakes are likely hot enough to keep them ready anyway. Racing, I'd pull them for the additional air flow.

Thanx for arguing with me, guys! Hope you had a wonderful Xmas, have an absolutely fabulous New Year (stay safe, please), and very much hope you have the successful next year you all deserve. (we can keep arguing -- just wanted to slip in here how much I value you folks :-) )

Actually, I do INTENSELY dislike the present shoes, BS RE950's. After all that research and all those positive ratings on Tire rack, they are worthless cold, and even worse in rain. BUT if I were a betting man I'd go for the senility :-)

Wow - if you haven't been there yet do the current suspension discussion on B14s. We don't have their problem with the closet rod rear axle, but the front stuff is worth paying attention to.

Ok I just bought the calipers and now I need rotors! I called Checker Auto and they can get the 205mm 1.6 I believe, 250mm and 257. They asked me if it was Japan made or U.S. made I dont know what the diff could be. Pepboys has the 257mm rotors and autozone has 10in. So which ones do I get the 250mm or 257mm?

EDIT: 250x18mm or 257x26mm?

The NX2000 front rotor is 257mm in diameter (that's 10.1") by 26mm thick. This size is usually found in parts lists under Japan-built models. But these parts lists are usually screwed up for B13 brakes, so it's best to confirm the dimensions, as you are doing.

If you shop around a little, you can do better on the price. Try RockAuto.com, for example.

Good luck with your upgrade.

What Bill says. People tend to go for the Brembo blanks, they're about $25 a corner as I remember. I got a set of import cheapos from Matt when he was still at the other place, $17 apiece. I trust Matt, he said he used 'em, easy choice. In the absence of Matt's advice, I think I'd try to find the Brembo blanks.

Ok thanks guys for the info. I had also talked the the seller of my calipers and he confirmed the same thing. I think I'm going to go for the Brembo blanks and some Hawk pads.

I can not seem to find Hawk brake pads anywhere for these brakes. What other pads would be good for street/autocross?

Actually, OEM pads will do quite well. Call Greg Vogel at GSpec for those (you'll get them quickly and likely for fewer bux than at the dealership). If you want to move up a step, get in touch with MaddMatt at bhpbrakes (bhpbrakes.com). Hawk pads or some other good stuff can be had from Serban, another good guy, at gofastdepot.com. These 3 vendors are rather special in this community; you really CAN trust them to help you the best they know how.
