I have used brake clean and maf cleaner. Maf cleaner is safer if you have it around, but I still have had no problems with brake clean.

i sprayed it in the maf connector and all around the housing and took a microfiber shop towel and wiped the whole thing down really good then set it in the sun to dry ...reinstall and your butter...should work fine

plus if jer 760 has been using brake cleaner all these yrs with no issues i wouldn't worry about using to much of the correct product lol

THANKS!

^When are you going to do a clean VE swap in that ride of yours?

I'm doing mine tonight as well. We did my buddies new '91 SE-R the other day, and it needs a lot of tuning up to get running smoothly, but it did make a noticeable difference in it's idle and while getting on it

Brake cleaner works, but it's not safe for plastic or paint.

As an example, spray some brake cleaner inside a plastic cup and come back 20 minutes later. The bottom of the cup would melt away.

You are correct, if it puddles up it will eat away at plastic and paint. They should only be cleaning the filament anyway so there is nowhere around there for the brake clean to accumulate. Either way the CRC is a better choice, but if brake cleaner is all you have, then it wont hurt the filament.
