I did that to a black NX ....for about a week until I almost got rear-ended.
Then I went to all-red instead.
If you get rear ended and the cops see that you have smoked tail lights, you will be at fault...just saying.
each to his own.If you like it thats all that matters I guess.

Yeah, I'm a big fan of completely smoking the rear lights. Helps if you have a 3rd brakelight as well. Got pulled by the cops just 1 time, and all they could say is that the reflector didn't show properly. That's about it. No fine, no ticket. They just don't know what to do.

I'm planning on creating a set of custom lights in the future, using smoked, clear plastic (resin, or something acrylic, molded and poured), and strips of LEDs behind that. So I should get a smoked/black taillight, and have the actual lights shown properly.

don't like the painting because of several reasons which a few have been mentioned already,,

if you would have kept the reverse light sections clear that would look good,,

I would have sent you film real cheap to keep you from doing something thats perminate and unable to remove when it fails but.. to each his own I guess...

in fact I'm driving right through your area next week and I would have even installed it for you.

It is always sand-able some 400grit would work it if it ever needed to come off. Then you would have to polish it up with something really fine after that but it a big PITA.

The part I don't like about the spray on stuff is it is for glass. The thinners in the spray can weaken the plastic and it can get small cracking. When I made my clear headlights I tried some on acrylic and the plastic became so brittle after it dried that I dropped one and it shattered almost like glass.

He won't have any problems with the law. My taillights and all 4 side markers have been that way for a LONG time, and we live in the same small city.

I looked around, and can't find a decent pic of my car that shows the taillights. You can see them and the sidemarkers in this vid though.
