Thread: gtir engine need help lorain ohio anyone near?

i have a gtir in a 93 nx2 stock except jwt ecu 3in exaust fmic and a stage 4 clutch bored mafs. ive been trying to get this thing rite but seen to have a bunch off little problems.been running great for a few months now. so today i fixed my rear motor mount that broke put it back on turned the car on turned on fine no smoking tapping knocking over heating anything drove to the store had a little stutter around 5g rpm on my way back home it started to smoke and have a real rough idle and sounded like it tapping or knocking i checked a few things after looking on the internet a few hours. regaurding the symptoms notin i did worked it is still smoking and sounds terrible. thing is im real good with the labor part of things have done all the work myself and like to kepp it that way if possible other then if things need to be machined or profe. done. is their anyone near lorain or cleveland area that would be willing to take a look at this car in person maybe that can help me please im willing to pay someone if needed jus for some answers noone wants to mess with the gtir engine when i say what engine it is i love my baby someone can help me ? please let me know asap..

what color smoke? what is the vaccum reading at idle?

smoke looks white but ive been reading blue smoke whit smoke ive never had a car smoke but looks white to me.

north olmstead thats not to far. to check it out. honestly not knowing the problem youd have to come by here if your willing dont wanna mess it up worse you know. how much would you charge me? before we set something up because this is my everyday driver i need it.

ok ive been reading allll night what is a leak down test? i jus work on it im a newbie lol even thoe ive been workin on cars for 12-15 years lol new to turbo thoe. no oil or antifreeze mixing and its not steam from exaust. no oil in spark plugs no shaft play on turbo or oil in any of the pipes. im goin to do a compr. test today see if any are low.

i checked the compression all good but one so ok i took the valve cover off and seen one of the rockers off the springs one rocker the rocker shime broke so after grabing a magnet and getting the shime and piece that broke off of it cams lobe not damaged or springs or anything now i need to measure them and am going to replace all off them. to be safe. thanks for the replys and the help was really helpfull. from what ive seen i can replace the shimes and be ok no other parts? im going to get rocker stoppers also. since this is my everyday driver should i do anything else or is their anything else that needs to be done if those are changed?
