Is this after you put in the clutch? Perhaps, when the flywheel was cut, they left a bevel or a lip on it instead of cutting clear over the edge?

I had an issue like this a couple years ago. I did the job twice thinking there was a mistake. We ended up putting it into gear while off, starting the car, and burning a bit of the clutch until it engaged/disengaged on it's own. I'm sure I'll get flamed for going that route, but it worked and I haven't had an issue with the car since. Worth a shot.

Is it a new faceplate and new clutch? Perhaps they are having some trouble mating if the faceplate is used and the clutch is new? I'd try it out and see what happens. Good luck.

The throw out bearing may also be an issue. Did you replace that as well?

I am pretty sure if a clip for it comes off it will cause this. Not 100% sure if that is your issue, though.

hmmmm....long shot, but loose spring on clutch disk maybe? happened to me. spring fell out of my clutch disk, and was jammed on the flywheel bolt. hmmm....also see if you can pull up and down on the shift lever(on the tansmission, where the cable attaches). i installed my tranny once in the dark, and knocked one of the clips off of the tob. same problem your having. if you can pull up or push down on that lever, your tob clip came off. other than that, make sure your cable is adjusted.
