Discussion Thread Re: The Most Powerful Engines Thread
This is where we can all talk about what's going on in this thread:

The Most Powerful Engines Thread. (Dyno Thread for Powerful Cars and Tuners)

Comments, questions, suggestions, and pretty much anything else belongs here.

Oh, and thanks go out to those who finally suggested the idea, and all those who participate!

Congrats Coheed, those are some serious numbers. I don't think more than a handful of people are in your league.
Imagine what you could do with stand-alone. =)

Congrats to danmartin for breaking the 400 WHP mark on a DET with stock cams. I'm only aware of one other who's done that.

Thanks Benfenner for making these threads. As soon as I dyno my ve on a Dynamics Dyno, I'll post up my numbers.

Good point. Im lucky to have engine witn only ~50k miles and clean head from 70years old owner.

Im curious what dyno say after all mods will be in.

Also your 200+whp will be nice.

Haha yep, I can see you having 150whp easily

Too bad the NA torque would be way below that, but thats why we have turbo

Good threafd however

my concerns are around the following

There is quite a large difference in HP between types of dynos and in some instances Dynos from different contries. My car i know is spot on for what it should make but some other peoples cars might not!

Maybe emphasis could be placed ont he type of mods done so it can be used as a strong refernce guide for power brackets.

Also you should edit the SR20DE section, not many people if any will have sr18de modded vehicles, and the true displacement for sr20de is 1998 CC. SO in theory everyone under the 1.9-2.0 bracket is not

This is probably the one big problem that isn't addressed in the thread. We're not alone with this problem though. Every forum with a list like this has the same problem. There is (as far as I know) no good solution. The best we can do is just to put people up according to their numbers. If my engine gets beat out by someone else because they went to an older dynoJET machine (known to read high) and I went to a Dyno Dynamics machine (known to read lower than dynoJET) there's nothing really I can do about it. There's no known (or accepted) conversion between different dynos. Not to mention different dyno operators choose to run their dynos differently (some hook up all the sensors to get a proper reading, some leave them all off to get what they feel is a proper and much lower reading). There's way too many variables to deal with in my opinion. If you have a suggestion, I'm all ears. I feel the best we can do is let everyone else know what dyno the numbers were taken on and let them sort it out in their own mind.

Are you suggesting a solution to the problem above? It sounds to me that you want engines grouped by modification. What does this accomplish?
As far as I'm concerned, this is a numbered list to keep track of who's making the most power, to make it a little more "fair" and readable, it's split up further by major engine differences ie: displacement, induction type, and head flow. You want to further split it up? Or split it up differently?

The 0-1.98 liter section is mainly for SR16 folks, but SR18 and maybe GA16 and CA18 guys can play too. If no one goes on the list in the next year or two maybe we'll shelve it.
Edit: Oh, you just mean the DE section, not the VE section? Hmm... I guess you're right, as the SR16 folks will be VE engines and the CA18 folks will be DETs really. I'd still like a section for the GA16 engines. I'll see what I can do.

Is not what? Not running an SR20? You're right. I think it makes sense to include SR16s, SR18s, GA16s and CA18s in the list too.
