Advice on measuring valve stem diameter
Hoping someone with more experience can give me a little advice here. I'm rebuilding my VE and at the moment measuring the valves and guide to determine clearance values.
Here are my questions:
Where is the proper location to take the measurement on the valve stem?
If I take it above the gray line (see picture) all valves are below the standard size limit. If I measure it below the line, they are just a the low end of the spectrum. The FSM doesn't seem too clear on the exact location to take the measurement.
I did measure at several locations on the stem and they are within tollerance, not excessively worn.
Next, does this matter? Or should I just be concerned with taking the measurement and subtracting the valve guide bore size to just determine if the clearance is within spec?
