I agree 100%. Plastiguage is a must even with new bearings. Last sr I built I plastiguaged with new ACL bearings and ended finding a problem. As for end play, I should know better, but I never check it as long as my thrust bearings are good. I don't think I have heard of an sr having crank walk issues. However, always better to be safe than sorry.
