Thread: The future of the sr20 community

I joined the sr20 community back in 2008 and things were booming. The for sale threads were full, and parts were flying off the self. We had Calum making bad ass daughter boards for us. The thread topics were a wealth of information, not that it isn't now. All in all, it seems that we are losing a following and it is impacting our community. Is there a way we can revamp this? Discuss.

Last two Conventions say otherwise, folks..... there is more to it than what is presented in front of your face via the internet.

John and Dave brought is a great factory ECU option with Nismotronic ECU and tunercode and NEMU all great stuff that crushes Calum.

Big bored and big stroked engines are popping up more and more.

Larger than factory turbo builds are all over.

There are a lot less cars around now than in the old days (and 2008 isn't the old days, by the way). There is, however, more dedicated enthusiasts these days. Back in the old days, SR's were considered disposable. Some people still have that attitude even today. But I think more and more people are realizing, however, that we need to start conserving our cars/parts for the future.

Instead of just parting out a car and chucking the carcass in the crusher, we need to be thinking differently. The more cars we can preserve the better. This is nothing new, by the way. I'm old enough to remember when '69 Z28's, GTO's, BOSS Mustangs, Cuda's etc., went through the same fate. In the low point of those car's lives, they could had for in the $500 range. A lot went to the crusher because people moved on to other things. The true enthusiasts held on to them. I'd say that's about where we are today with the SR20. True enthusiasts! Come to the Convention, you'll see.

As with any good forum there will be growing pains and new members with fresh ideas. Us OG guys pretty much kick back & lurk the Dash nowdays, responding when it's appropriate to do so. It's still a very active forum, just a different one from 5+ years ago.

I would have to say that parts don't sell as fast....like before. Sale or no sale.....That does not change anything on my end tho....i'm going to keep on pushing forward with these cars. Hoping to make it to a convention someday & represent.

Both the cars, and owners are getting older. You have to expect some sort of drop off. I don't think it's bad though, seems like less idiots to me lol.

This is so true!! Also everything that I sell I always take a loss and most of the time I dont care because I'm helping out a fellow forum member but it makes me sick to see and know that some people on here acquire a part and then mark it up triple what they paid for it and sell it. There are so many changes that I have noticed on this forum and some of the members and the overall activity here and I am growing away from this place more and more everyday I have just lost interest to the point that I don't think I'm going to re-new my membership when it expires I love my B13 SE-R to death though and will never part with it and I am excited about joining the SR20VE world.

Some members take breaks. I know I was off the forums all together for a year or so. I have been modifying B chassis cars since 1998 and don't plan to stop any time soon. I also talk to many of the members directly

ive been taking a break for the last year or so, but its just about time to get back into action
