sandwich plate
I am getting ready to install some gauges ,and was thinking of trying to use a sandwich plate on the oil filter for the oil temp and oil pressure senders.
Any reason NOT to do this instead if tapping the pan and/or dealing with removing the factory oil pressure gauge and using a T-fitting.I never have liked that setup...or the CS one,for the same reason.
It just seems like a clusterfuck that way,and it seems to pout extra weight and strain on the fittings,etc..
The sandwich plate sure makes it look alot neater and easier.
I even found one that has the ports for oil cooler and the gauges on the plate already, making adding an oil cooler at a later time a bit easier, and you dont have to relocate the filter.

Any and all feedback, input,or experience with this would be great.I dont want the VE on the track without the gauges installed. We all know how good the stock ones are.LOL
Thanks in adavance
Jay

seems to me that would be a great idea as long as the quality is good....wouldn't want it backing out and spraying pressurized oil...pan will be empty in seconds =(

other than that i like this idea and want to see the product as well....hehe

Here is the outcome if anyone is interested. It was not direct fit,as I had to cut the fitting shorter as you can see in the thread

I have the GloShift sandwich plate with oil cooler, oil temp & oil pressure fittings on my track car with their gauges and so far they have held up to a year of track events. The 10an fittings that come with the plate could be of better quality but if you're using the plate just for oil temp & pressure GloShift makes one for that. Good customer service. Price was an issue for me and they had awesome prices for what I needed. Not for everyone but they do the job IMO.

I agree. The price was rediculously cheap. like 13 bucks shipped. And its great quality, too.I am impressed so far.
I have put 300 miles on so far.No leaks or problems.I am getting good readings from the sensors as far as I can tell.

I looked at the oil cooler setups, and for 200 ,thats a nice setup.
Something like this

I think eventually I am just gonna go remote filter up front in cool air,and not a full oil cooler setup. It seems like that would help cool the oil a little.I want braided lines for all that, though.
Someone here has that setup and said it dropped temps pretty good.We will see.

Yeah,I got a 150psi specifically because it pegs the 100 psi ones.LOL
Thats another benefit of VDO,they actually have a 150psi gauge option..

Yep VDO works on my setup too. 150psi gauge FTW. From all the intense road racing this year I'm guessing the oil pressure sending unit took a crap with the GloShift 100psi gauge so it's time to do the VDO on the 91 track car. Did the VDO gauge on the 94 and she is solid, reliable with lots of room for the VE's oil max pressures.
