Who Feels Shafted?
So...
We were sold out...
You know - I spent a lot of my time back in the day helping Ben buy a server, set it up, setup email, host it on a FREAKIN DSL line lol - helped admin the server and the site for a short bit, but you know - I never once bitched that I wasn't getting paid, or that "my time is worth this"... Ben never ran ads, been didn't ask for money - he did it because he loved the platform.
I've been burnt out on wrenching for a while, but you know what I still read the forum, my post count has gone way down - but the sense of community was so strong (having hosted a geek-out and meeting/helping people was a huge sample of community for me) that is there is worth coming back for.
I think that we need a charter this time. We are all about grass groots, we are all about community. We need to start a non profit or something and make sure there is no ONE owner.
The fact that the forum, something that WE as a group owned (face it, no posts there is no forum) was sold out beneath us.
The fact that someone let themself be consumed to the point they were burnt out, and then sold the forum just says that they were a poor leader, and no able to delegate work.
Lets make sure this works - screw the old forum - lets start new, but start right. Set some ground rules now. 1 - make sure that the domain can't even be sold/transfered/leased whatever without majority vote...
We'll go from there...
