Original poster, I would recommend buying a motor in person if possible.

For what it's worth, my motor turned out really well. I was already planning on swapping in DET pistons, then doing the head gasket and bearings. Sure I lost a few hundred dollars, and spent way more time and money than I originally intended, but I got a really nice motor out of it. I learned a lot too. Karma is a b*tch though, and I hope that with my experience I can steer thousands of dollars away from Soko.

Here's how the motor turned out:

As for Karma I am pretty sure the SOKO in Chicago Illinois, is no more

I bought a motor from them in 2003 it was pretty clean. Today I would buy from Tiger most likely

+1 from Tiger, I got a very clean motor for them!

If I had to redo it and Miko had a DET in stock I'd buy from Miko. But He didn't when I bought my DET so I went with Tiger.
