Godspeed Turbos, Are they any good?
Hoping I have some better luck on the forum so i'm think of up my turbo to either the GT30 or GT35. Now i know eBay stuff is usually crap but i ran across a Godspeed GT30 for 300 brand new which seems like a good price to me. I never used a godspeed turbo before actually i didn't know godspeed even made turbos so i'm not sure how good it is. I have used other parts made by them and they hold up pretty good but just wonder if anyone on here has used this turbo before and is it any good or should i stay away from it and if so what brand should I be looking at?

Well a brand new gt30 or gt35 for 300 bucks should answer your question for you. You could take a shot at it and see what happens.... It could be ok for a while, it may blow up quick, just hope that if it blows it doesn't ruin the engine or anything important. Maybe it will be ok, who knows. I know I am not much help but if it usually seems too good to be true, it usually is.

A turbine, any turbine that run's for 300 dollars dosent sound that great to me. Maybe it will last one event, but heres the deal, I think you should see if you have the correct supporting mods, a lot of things can destroy a turbo. How much boost do you wan't to run? Do you have the right fuel management, i.e. injectors, pump, ecu. Throwing a turbo on a car can wreck more than just the turbo.

Also, what motor do you have?
If you wan't a low priced turbo, you should give SPA turbo's a shot, I have ran with them for a while, no problems, I currently have the Spa 6300 GTS, I got it real cheap, you can get it for around 700 retail. But for 700, why not save up an extra 300 and buy a Disco Potato?

Yeah I know the component on my car makes a big deal right now i have an avenir w11 i rebuilt the motor back to zeros mile and probably only put on 200 miles so far. The car has the stock g20 ecu with an SAFC has a halman boost controller and i only plan on running 15 lbs the highest 10 lbs daily. i have a 255 fuel pump no fpr yet but i plan on going with an fuel lab fpr when i get my upgraded turbo. also plan on upping the injectors to 550 and using a jwt ecu and i may do some head work if need

Don't do Godspeed. Godspeed = eBay.

You pay for what you get.

I rather shop around for a cheap used turbo before I buy something like this.

you know what? I'm gonna educate some of you young mothers out there.

1. Ebay turbos are those fancy garretts you all love are almost identical.
2. For a budget build why not?
3. most of the ebay turbos can be rebuilt with the same parts as their garrett counter parts.

I have ran so many ebay turbos I should be getting a fucking discount by now. The only one I ever had an issue with was the very first one back in 03' and yes back then they were shit.

I have ran 8+ ebay 16gs with no issues, 2 t28's no issues, and a 60-1 knock off as well. Just because some ebay parts are shit doesn't mean they all are.

I understand some people have had issue with them but me personally, I have had not one bad experience EVER.

Having rebuilt several turbines, let me chime in...

1. You're so wrong it's not even funny. The manufacturing process is vastly different, and R&D/QA is never performed on cheap chinese CHRA's, which are the most important parts of a turbocharger. Ever seen what a turbine wheel looks like when cast from china? Compare it to a turbine wheel from Garrett, IHI/Mitsubish, Precision, Borg Warner, etc...

2. Because you're not very budget minded when you need to rebuild a motor and replace a turbo after you've blown it.

3. The ONLY "eBay" kit I would buy to repair a turbo if not an OEM kit, would be a KAMAK. Oh, that's Korean though, and not chinese/Taiwanese.
