teres a saying, do it right or do it twice, i would definitly do it the way you think is right. you can have a reliable high horsepower car, my car is aftermarket everything with the exception of the casting of the block and head everything else is aftermarket to the T, and i have driving it long distances many of times and its making around 400whp and only problems i have had were stupid issues like wire come loose, or grounding issues but other than that the car is really relieable.
its all in the tune to be 100% honest as far as breaking things, if you get a good management system and have it tuned to the specific boost/fuel injectors/setup there you should be pretty straight
