Man, this remark is irrelevant.

You obviously have never actually seen a Carfax, nor understand how to use one.

Part of the Carfax report is culled from various Dept. of Motor Vehicle records. (which, surprise, have been known to exist before 1998 :rolleyes

its rare to get info prior to that year for carfax. carfax is a joke, sometimes it works out but not all service centers report to carfax, not all bodyshops or dealerships report to carfax. being ive worked in car dealerships sence 1997 and im a state lisence insurance adjuster i know nothing about carfax. the amount of repairs have to go over a certain amount before any place sends them infomation. And that remark is relevant because its funny you want to carfax a 16 year old car.

My fault. I didn't make myself absolutely clear for those people (you) that can't seem to understand the relevance of the topic:
We are talking about mileage.

OK, so can a Carfax report tell you a car's approximate mileage based on when it was titled and registered and renewed?

I'll go ahead and answer that for you from my experience...Yes, as I have seen on 10+ Carfax reports I have had run.

I couldn't give a flying flip what other information a "state lisence insurance adjuster" such as yourself gleans from the report. I'll repeat it:
We are talking about mileage.

---

I think one thing to keep in mind is that the guy selling it appears to be a car salesman, or is at least in the biz. This isn't the first time I've seen a salesman claim to sell a car for his 'relative,' so buyer beware...

damm you showed me i feel bad now.

Maybe you should sell cars for a living sence you seen 10+ carfax reports, i think thats a requirement.

I guess 1 call to the DMV would not tell you the mileage but sence you seen 10+ carfax reports you know more then anyone on this board.

Goodluck and thankyou for your infomation

Scan a copy of the title. It shows mileage on it, as well as the date that the title was issued, compare that with the current date and mileage.
