Need some track tips
So I went to the track last night for only the 2nd time this year. I was hoping to hit 13's because it was a way better track then the first one I went to. Well that didn't happen, I did though achieve a better speed in the quarter.

2.4 60'
14.11 @ 103mph

I know my 60' was terrible. I need some help getting off the line and I'm just not quite sure how to go about this. I've tried 3k and 4k rpm. 3 bogged 4 spun. At a worse track I ran 14.07@101 with a 2.3 60'

I have a unsprung 6 puck so it's pretty much impossible to slip it off the line. Anyone have any tips that might be helpful.

Best I've gotten turbo was a 2.3 and that was t25 turbo setup. I have a 99 NON lsd tranny so I know this isn't helping at all. I just don't have the money for slicks or an lsd being my last year of college. I'm pretty much done for the year at the track, but I just want some info if anyone can help me out. Thanks!

Eric,

How much boost are you running? I feel that you MPH is kind of low especially for a T-28 car.

yea i second that. i remember my stock boost t25 w stock de went 104mph.

even at low boost i would expect more out of this set up. is it tuned at all? i konw the car is a little heavier but i would exptect atleast 110 with that much power.

Are you dumping to clutch on the launch?

get an LSD tranny and some good tires that would help a lot

I was running 14lbs. And I have been messing with the tune, it's pretty good. Timing could maybe need tuned a little more. The car weight was 2725 with my g/f of 120lbs in it. She was also riding with me. But it wouldn't of hurt it that much.

I'm going back on the dyno this weekend and then my sti Injectors are going in next weekend. My buddy in his evo ran 12.5 @109 last night.

This clutch is just a pain in the ass to get a good launch out. I know a lsd and slicks would help but it's the end of the season and I'm broke so next year I'm hoping to get both of these. It's just pretty pointless to go for more power when I can't even break 13's with this setup.

Going back to the track on the 9th if the weather is good. Could use some tips, might just not rev at all and take off like a stop sign haha Also might be able to borrow a set of slicks so well see how that goes.

I pretty much do what I do when I used to be boosted. I used to get 2.1 60' times on junkyard tires at 12-15psi. They hooked pretty good. I pretty much avoided the water box. Did a little burnout just to clean off any debris from the tires. Once staged, I would pull the e-brake, bring the revs to about 4500-5000, hold up the e-brake, and slip out the clutch enough to where you feel it grabbin but the e-brake is holding the car back. Once you see that third yellow at the same time I would drop the brake, release the clutch, and feather the gas to try and help it hook up once it hit full boost. I still do the same thing now that I'm all motor to try and avoid snapping an axle. Good luck bro.

I would check over the setup real quick before heading back. Make sure all boost leaks are fixed. Make sure that the exhaust gaskets are all in good shape. Check over all the random crap that can contribute to making the car even a hair bit slower.

Yeah good idea, still don't got a boost leak tester though :/ lol Need to do something about that. That seems like a lot going on at once and i think 5k will just spin to much. Might try 3k, just so hard to slip a solid 6 puck. I go around the water box and do a little launch before the light also

I hear you on the 60' thing. I ran my ve two times down the track. This was on stock suspension and stock 185/60/14 touring tires. First pass was launching at 3k. It spun and wheel hopped so bad it popped first into neutral twice, managing a 3.7 60' at 17.6s @ 98.9mph. Second pass I did a normal 1200-1500rpm launch as if I was at a stop sign and pulled a 2.313 60' 14.09s @101.2mph. So with that, untill you get better trans/suspension/tires, I would try to just take it easy on the launch. Also keep in mind, the rule of thumb is for every .1 sec you take off the 60', is .2sec off the ET.
