b15 knuckle swap discussion
First off, if you think isn't "the right idea" then don't waste our post space, just read and move on.

Since this knuckle swap opens the door to many other brake options, I thought I would start this to see what other people have done for brakes, wheels and bolt pattern.

I have B15 1.8L no ABS knuckles. The hubs accept the stock B13 SE-R axles without any issues. The caliper mounting bosses are narrower (closer together) than the B13 caliper mounts and narrower than the AD22. However, they do match the G20, Maxima, Altima, Q45 and 300ZX caliper mounts. So, lots of different brakes available to run, if you want to.

Issue number one:
Bolt pattern is different, with B15 having 4x114.3 and B13 having 4x100.

Solution: redrill B15 hub to 4x100 or convert rears to 4x114.3, or convert entire car to 5x114.3 with TDMimports kit or similar, or buy dual pattern wheels.
Any other suggestions?

Issue number two:

B15 and almost all other Nissans have a 66mm hub. B13's have 59.1mm hub, so even if you redrilled the hubs to 4x100, you wouldn't be able to fit B13 wheels without boring out the centers. What are you guys doing about this?

Solution: use other wheels? turn down b15 hubs to 59.1mm?
What have folks done here? I see several people with 5 lug swaps, etc. Any of you care to chime in?

My reasoning for doing all of this is to get better/bigger brakes on the car. I have some engine development I am doing and will need bigger brakes. The good thing is, the Maxima/Q45 set ups will hide under 15" wheels and I could even swap the caliper brackets to the G20 brackets and use 14" G20 wheels for gravel tires when the time comes.

So, any thoughts from those who have done this before?
I'll post up pics of my work so far, and issues that have arisen.

G20 rear hubs(not meaning the whole knuckle) will slide on B13 rear spindles and convert the rears to 4x114.3.

Anyone still using stock B13 wheels shouldn't even think about any other upgrade until they're putting decent wheels/tires down on the road. (IMHO)
Most aftermarket wheels center hole are about 73mm so it's just a matter of buying the right size hub centric rings.

the spec v rear hub should fit on there as well we did this to a b13 and just slapped the 06 spec v wheels on there with the brembo calipers sweet set up

What about the Brembo brakes from the SpecV for the front of the b15? Not an option for you?

I have a set of G20 rear hubs, and they are 5mm longer than the stock B13 hubs. If I run the spacer that locks the bearings to the oblong end of the spindle shaft, then I cannot put the cotter pin through the hole. This is a huge NO NO in my book! If I take the slotted washer out, then the nut fits and I can use the cotter pin, but if Nissan saw fit to use the washer, I feel like it should be there. I personally will not use the G20 rear hubs on my car.

I figured that aftermarket wheels would be necessary, but I am trying to get all of this done for as little as possible. Not that I'm cheap, there are just so many things that are stock that can be huge upgrades for a car this light, so why not use as many factory components as possible. Plus, as I've found trying to sell stuff on this forum, people are cheaper than me, so if I can help someone else avoid buying the wrong parts or find the right parts for cheap, then that's great!

I am heading to the junkyard soon though with the plan to try Altima rear hubs and if I can find B15 rear hubs, those as well. I just don't know if drum rears are different hubs than disc rears as finding B15's with disc rears is not going to be easy!

Chris, once the B15 front knuckles are on, then the SpecV Brembos would be an option with the appropriately sized wheels. I personally want the smallest wheel I can fit, so I would stick with the Maxima or Q45 brakes as those both have 15" wheels stock.

You could use the P11 front brakes and B15 Brembo rears, they will fit under 15" wheels. You should try to get the P10 rears to fit as it is the closest you will find. Have you tried the whole P10 spindle?

this has been covered so many times its getting ridiculous. BUT, here you go anyways

B15 hubs with 15 inch factory s13 wheels. worked perfect on our "race car". rears are g20 hubs/rotors/calipers. This is a very straightforward swap, nothing worth complicating. if you want 5 lug, redrill rears, and use maxima fronts. as for stock ser wheels? 14 inch b13 wheels suck. b14s are nice enough for a stock wheels, but probably wont clear anything special caliper wise, even if you DID redrill to 4x100 on the b15 hub.if you want factory use the s13 wheel, or 300zx 5 lug wheels. q45 calipers also bolt on, and are a floating 2 piston caliper. no clearance issues with the front of the caliper like 300zx calipers. If you run a 17 inch wheel, you SHOULD be able to run the spacers to pull the caliper away from the center hub enough to run a 12.75 inch rotor from a 370z. If you want more info, check out the spec v websites.....as their motors are garbage, they tend to do a lot of suspension/brake mods, lol. But really, theres tons of options, its all pretty straightforward. just take a look at the s chassis brake setup options, and b15 upgrades. ALSO, the m30 rotor bolts on to a b15 hub, and clears the caliper with NO modification....couple mm thinner than the 300zx rotor, but im running it in my nx2000, and it stops like bonkers. im using the abs too.

if the cotter pin wont go through, a small tack weld will do the same thing......just saying.
