Tire question?
What do you guys think of the firestone winterforce?

I like them, especially for the price. But I've only run them on smoother dirt/gravel events. I think the soft sidewalls might debead too easily on rough/rutted courses. For those I only use rally tires.

They are great snow tires though. Not as good on ice, but very good in deep snow.

We had rough courses down here, and I heard that they chunked a little. I broke down and got used rally tires.

To drive to and in the event. Not anything hardcore but good enough.

Winterforce are great for softer dirt. I have seen them chunk up pretty badly on hardened dry dirt and clay.

For street tires that work well in rallycrosses, look for something with a blocky tread. I use 185/65, up a little from the stock size, but it will give some extra ground clearance, be a little cheaper and won't really hurt your performance or gearing too badly.

I have friends that use the PepBoys brand performance tires on their rallycross cars and always seem to finish well. I don't remember the name, but I remember them saying the tires were from PBoys, and that they were cheap(ish).

Rally tires are by far the best bet! I remember my first set, and I was able to drop a gear with the better traction. In other words, I used to use 2nd everywhere on street tires, but with rally tires, I could stretch 1st through most courses unless they were really long. It was a pretty amazing traction difference!

Wow. definitely spare wheels to get you there and rally tires for the event.

Do you know Ivor? Ivor Wigham's European Rally and Performance Driving School of Florida

He always has used rally tires for sale cheap, depending on how close you are to him in FL.

If you are going to rallycross that machine, I would only use rally tires. Nothing else will hook up! Rally tires probably won't either come to think of it! I had trouble hooking up with my built motor and that was 160/144 whp/wtq--and rally tires!

I would definitely step up to 15 wheels and tires if you are going to try and RX that much hp. Check out specialstage.com and rallyanarchy.com They both have classified sections and people sell tires all the time.

With that much HP, I don't know that you will find a satisfactory tire to drive to the event on, use in the dirt and then drive home.

The PepBoys tires are Futura Super Sport. I don't even know what size I would try and run on your car with that much HP. Probably a 195/60/15. You will rub on big bumps and at full lock, but you might be able to hook up....

Good luck! Definitely post videos!!
