Sr17ve
Now I've never actually built an engine or even own a SR20 at this moment, but I have experience and some knowledge about helping build Honda motors. I also understand basic engine dynamics and dimensioning.

I've searched around and found similar topics but non that are exactly relevant to me.

SR20VE destroked with sr16 crank and bored to 89.5mm
CP pistons that are 12.5:1 for a sr20 will need me about what CR with a 68.7 stroke?

I'm not trying to stay within a class or break any records, I just want a unique reliable engine that can wrap my tach every once in a while. Would a 1.7l be worth it for a bullet proof daily driver or should I just stick with a regular 2.0 bottom end and not worry about sleeving? I'm not concerned about cost of sleeving as there's benefits in that itself. I'm interested in something bulletproof, not something with a rod/stroke of 1.58. Long run is to possibly go turbo.

88mm is the most you want to go without sleeving. Why not do a 2.1L, 88mm bore, 86mm stroke. If you really want to stay with the SR16 crank go 92mm bore, it will cost the same no matter what size you do once you sleeve.

Lots of people will say why waste your time, i say do what you want. Stock VE's are very reliable if done correctly.
