sorry but that... uploaded from my phone to the server

I took another photo, (with the phone, camera won't fit int the engine bay) see previous post.
This engine has never had any leak except for the distributor o-ring going bad.

The outer bolt for the head, behind the egr tube has been checked for torque and I've looked all around the head and valve cover to make sure there is no place this is coming from. I cleaned the engine bay, not that there was much to clean except some road dirt and the oil from this area. After the engine dried, I drove her a couple of hours and sure enough, found this spot to be seeping oil.
I know I could drive it this way for a long time without any real issues, especially since I don't dog the car, but having any oil outside the engine doesn't sit well with me as I have always taken pride in having a clean engine.

All the bolts that torque the headgasket down are under the valve cover. I don't have a sr20 vehicle at the moment so if you could take a pic from even farther out I would be able to remember it better. Possibly there is another gasket external from the headgasket that is leaking is what I am thinking although I could be wrong. Just trying to save you the trouble of doing a big job if it isn't necessary.

LOL, yes I know the location of the head bolts. This motor also has outer bolts too, as to what use they really serve...
Your input has been helpful enjoyable and welcomed. This is why I joined the forum. To find people who aren't selfish and will take the extra step to help a fellow out or what not.

Tough to zoom out and get a detail of the HG as the cam phone isn't that clear, but I'll give it a shot later today. The engine has no other oil leaks at all.

I spoke to Andreas Miko today about it and he seemed to think it was something else as well, but after he went through some steps: distributor o-ring- valve cover gasket etc, he concurred about the head gasket being the issue.

We'll be hooking up in a week or so, just in case and I'll decide then if I will swap it out, or fix it. If I can find the cash it'll be a motor swap, if not a simple refresh and cam swap.

Yeah all of the things that he asked you I figured you went through already but that is how you start, look up and work your way down. I just don't see why there is a bolt on the outside of the head like that, lol. Miko will point you in the right direction whichever way you choose to go about it. Tell him you want a little more pep out of the deal and he will advise you about what your options are and what he might have to help. You are in good hands with him, enjoy.

Yeah. We're talking RR motor not that it's much more pep, but it had more WHP than this one, but let's see.

As far as the head outer bolt go. here's a page I extracted from the FSM. Should be the second to last picture on the page. First head I've ever seen with inner and outer bolts.
like this.

If you get a 10:1 RR motor it is a decent amount more pep, not a ton but a decent amount. The only thing to think of with a RR motor is the fact that you are limited on cam choice if you decide to upgrade that engine more than bolt ons. It all depends on what your final goal with the car is and from what I have seen Dre will always steer people in the right direction as long as you know what you want to do with the car and make it clear to him what your goals are. He will probably ask but if not, make sure that you have a plan.
