Got back from an 1800 mile trip... the old girl did great. Only issue I had was the power steering belt didn't like the prolonged drive. I had a new NAPA/Gates power steering belt and alternator belt with me (I had meant to replace both before I left town, but ran out of time), so threw both on at a friends house.

I put LEDs in my reverse and license plate lights, rewired my a-pillar gauges, found my radio and mounted it back up, looking for the wiring harness for it though, cant find it anywhere..and today I will be assembling my coilovers to get those ready to put them in the car asap..also found a torn axle boot on the right side that will need to be fixed..will probably do it when I do the coilovers

Filled it up with gas after 607.5 km (85% highway). I put in 45.729 L ,which equals about 664.25 km if I ran it until empty.

Bringing this thread back from hiatus.

Started working on my B14 today to get it back to road worthy status since it's been sitting for over a 1.5 years.

Removed both stock B14 rear calipers, pass side was sticking due to piston seized and driver side wheel barely was able to spin freely.

Went to local junkyard today to pull a non-abs Altima master cylinder. Installed in anticipation for next weekend brake upgrade job: NX2K fronts with saved old school Powerslot rotors and Maxima A32 caliper/B15 caliper bracket on JDM NX2K 258 mm rear discs (thanks goes to @Keo for the rear brake setup advice). Techna-Fit braided lines will also be going in.

Slowly but surely, this B14 Get It Running Project is off to a start.

Waxed mine this week, first a cleaner compound and then 2 1/2 coats of real wax. It's a 98 and really amazing how well Nissans superblack holds up, being the origina paint. A guy I ran into over the weekend said the paint looks "beautiful"

    Walked by it in disdain.

Needs a new engine or engine refresh since it burns over a quart in under a thousand miles.

Front brake pads are gone and need replaced.

Front suspension is worn, shot to shit, and needs replaced.

Shifter is worn and out of alignment so it is sort of a slanted H shape. 4th is real tricky to find.

I see carpet underneath through the unibody in the rear underneath where a passengers butt would be. That's kinda new.

I still don't want to get rid of it, I just don't want to commute in the car anymore.

Started her up for the second time since April and it starts, idles, drives.

Service charge performed on the battery.

    That's all, folks.

Still gave me an SR20-smile when I revved up to 7500 RPM after the engine got warm.

well lets see a month or so ago i changed that damn coolant line on the back of the block cause it was hosing my engine down. 2 weeks later water pump decided to quit so i changed that and today since it was raining and i couldnt wash the body i cleaned all the upholstery. then i went and drove it in the rain:-)

oh i forgot this last half of the year i did the ad22vf upgrade i had sitting around and put in a new head unit. now to fix my idle air cel and replace my arm rest cover.

We had a blizzard come through here last weekend and it dropped 10 inches of snow. I threw my stock wheels with newish 185/60/15 Blizzack WS80s on and it was a beast. Heavy snow? No problem! Ice at slow speeds? Total traction! Ice at speed? Unless I purposesly tried to make them slip, again, no problem!

We don't get a lot of snow here in Virginia, so I'm always amazed when I get a chance to drive the SE-R in it, just how great of a winter car it is. If I didn't have it lowered on Road Magnets and CSKs, it would be an even better winter beater.

That is how I have been using my B14 the last three years, winter use only. Start it once or twice during the off-season and tend the battery. But once winter drops, the battery goes back on and the winter tires are deployed. Makes quick work of anything.

I hear you, mine is my daily back and forth to work car (and has been since new)... but if I lived in an area with a real winter and real rust concerns, I think I'd do the same as you and buy a second one as a dedicated winter beater. AWD is nice in the snow, but the added maintenance expense for an older wrx winter beater just doesn't balance out when our cars are so good while being simple and cheap to maintain.

Over the last couple weeks I installed B15 front knuckles, P11 rear hubs, Brembos, Maxima/SpecV rear brakes, Altima master cylinder, and different wheels with spacers. Oh, and painted my 20V header.

Think my clutch is going. It's a Clutchmasters Fx500 with about 40,000 miles on it. Either that or the cable is fucked up. I can't adjust it because there's no adjustment wheel (wtf?) but I have a new cable to try out. Slips then grabs.

Been driving the B14 for a few weeks now. Had a pesky knock sensor and front o2 codes that prevented me from getting car emission tested. Got both taken care of and no more CEL but today went to get car emission tested and EGR monitor was not ready twice after doing a couple drive cycle in between testings. Going to have to run a couple more drive cycles for EGR to be ready. Hopefully, either tomorrow or next week car is legitimately road legal.
