DE to Ve head swap question.
I heard a rumor, that if I put a Ve head on a de block and use high lift cams (sr16/n1) that the pistons would crash into the valves is this true?

Is this a RWD head swap or a fwd head swap?

im pretty positive that with a stock sr20ve head on a stock de bottom end, the largest you can do is sr16 cams... i konw you can find out for sure if you searched it

You can rn sr16 cams but you won't have room to adjust cam timing.

My goal is to make 200 +whp. I noticed it said 197hp which is pritty close in your signature. Is this even possible without using a calum ecu? I was planning on using the Jwt ecu/external solenoid switching device. Also what do you have your redline set at using sr16 cams?

why don't you just buy a VE and get all the good stuff that comes with it vs doing a head swap?

Piston oil squirters, much better oil pump and pick-up design (will be required for the VVL actuators) for starters. The 4 counterweight crank is a plus for some. Others will have more info.

What he said. with a stock motor you won't have to worry if your pistons will clear N1 cams. You might not make your target hp on SR16 cams unless you live in FL (j/k guys lol).

Even though your joking I know what you mean.. Honestly I do not want to use the Jwt ecu. I know I would make so much more power with the calum ecu it's just proven. On the other hand I don't want to put some thing in my car that I can't use personally.

Wow thats crazy I had no idea the 20ve block was so advanced. The 4 counter weight crank whats the difference from the de crank?

Are you doing anything special with your De/ve setup?... for example using a Ve oil pump. Just need to know where I need to spend the money on the odds and ends, But its really looking like the whole motor would be a better choice in the long run it might actually save me money. Honestly is there any advantages that the De/ve hybrid may have over the complete ve engine?
