Are they all out? If you only removed one and the rest are still in there, just look at the others and install it the same way.

If you removed them all, it's a little different. Typically the groves in the journals for the bearings alignment face the exhaust side. If the pistons are still on the rods, they are marked to indicate FRONT of engine. Front being timing chain.

I had them all out and took the piston off of the rod already. What will happen if the oil hole are facing the wrong way.

Here's what I'll do. I'll run and grab one of my loose piston/rods tomorrow and let you know 100% which way they go. I'm 99% right now that the bearings tabs go to the exhaust side of the block. Not sure which way the oiling hole is in relation to them as I've never paid attention to the oiling hole. I only pay attention to the bearings and the mark on the piston. I don't have any of my spare engine stuff here right now.

more than likely the bearing tangs are to the exhaust side, thats what i really look at, every rod i look at when you try to match it to the service manual theres a discrepancy with where the oil hole is.

My B14 manual says the oil hole sits towards the intake side. If the front of the motor is to the West, the oil hole will be North.
