I have the PAR helical set with the larger teeth and wider gears. I will have some seat time on it this summer but I thought that would be the best compromise. We will see! Glad to see this has come back to life though, I thought everyone has given up on the PAR sets.

Andreas!!
Your gears worked as avertised on your calculations they are spot on!!!!!
My oppinions
Great for a 2.0 - 2.3L VE Shifting between 9000-10000 with the 4.78FD 23in tall tire
Great for the 2.4 or Close to stock setup shifting between 8000-9000 with 4.44 fd and 22-23 tall tire

Lets get back to the idea of straight cut gears and why the factory box breaks third.

Ok factory gear box breaks third because
under power helical gears try to move away from each other. Straight cut gears do not try and seperate from each other. These gears are also slightly wider and the straight cut gears will mesh with a larger surface area.

Since 5th gear comes off the stack why doesn't anyone make a cuff in place of fifth gear that holds the shafts together? Is there a reason why no one does this? I feel like it would really hold them together for a lot less then going par..

Cory you miss the point of the PAR gear box. The factory box with what ever VE will not perform on the street or the track as good as the PAR gear set.

No, I do understand. More power getting together along with the custom ratios. But for example, people like me who can't afford the par sets. Would it be something easily done?

Cory save your money, if it takes a year to save up do it.

I will have some minor tweaks to the drag box once I speak to Payu.

I also have the ultimate street box that I have been working on.

This is a great idea...

Can you speak to differences between the original PAR set vs. this new one? I may swap my PAR box out for new if the differences are substantial.

Nope I can not. But I guarantee the original PAR gear sets have nothing to do with drag racing. If you list your ratios I can tell you whats up.
