B15 Vs SR16VE Vs SER Gear Box Comparison For NA
All MPH are calculated at 8000 RPMs with 23in tire.

This is for all the guys who keep saying SR16VE gear boxes and B15 gear boxes are the same. They are not.

SR16VE gear box FD ( 4.44 )

1. 3.333---14.788 = 37 MPH
2. 1.955----8.674 = 63 MPH
3. 1.333----5.914 = 92 MPH
4. 0.975----4.326 = 127 MPH
5. 0.756----3.354 = 164 MPH

B15 Gear Box FD ( 4.44 )

1. 3.333---14.788 = 37 MPH
2. 1.955----8.674 = 63 MPH
3. 1.286----5.706 = 95 MPH
4. 0.926----4.110 = 127 MPH
5. 0.733----3.252 = 169 MPH

SER Gear Box FD ( 4.18 )

1. 3.063----12.791 = 44 MPH
2. 1.826-----7.625 = 72 MPH
3. 1.286-----5.370 = 98 MPH
4. 0.975-----4.072 = 131 MPH
5. 0.756-----3.157 = 174 MPH

As you can see the B15 and SR16VE gear box share the same 1st and 2nd gear for quick acceleration. Please note they share the same FD also.

For highway driving the the B15 gear box beacause of its longer 4th and 5th gear which is identical to a P10s 4th and 5th gear will give you a reasonable compramise for long trips as compared to a SR16VE gear box.

Basically for NA the B15 gear box gives you the shorter 1st - 3rd for 1/4 mile racing but still gives you a good 5th gear for highway driving.

In conclusion B15 gear box % wise is a better all around gear box vs SR16VE gear box if you are looking for the best of both worlds acceleration and gas mileage.

Damn 5:00am.You up so early or you still havn't gone to sleep.Back to the topic.I've been in a car with the sr16 and one with the b15.From 1st to 3rd feels like it revs the same but then when you get on the high way I've noticed how at the same speed the sr16ve is reved up alittle higher.I was also told that they where the same.Same final drives but still different gear ratios.

Well I got up at 430 Am to watch something on the net from the other side of the world live. Went to bed at 10 pm so I am well awake. I usually get up at 5:30-6:00 am every morning.

The 1st-2nd are the same the 3rd is close but still longer than the SR16VE.

The 3rd is a SER 3rd gear but with the 4.44 FD vs the 4.18 SER FD. So its a middle ground compramise.

Those numbers are at 8000 RPMs.

What gear box are you running?

and

What tire size are you running?

Well for the average idiot the SR16 tranny just bolts in the car. The b15 requires changing from hydraulic to cable.

For Highway purposes the b15 trans looks great.

Maybe I missed it somewhere Andreas, but what is the difference between the SR16 and B15 trans as far as strength goes?

B15 trans has stronger case, no fifth gear popout. Sr16 trans has weak case and potential 5th gear popout.
