Tuning Fuel Maps with NismoTronic SA
I am having some issues with the loads and AFRs while tuning the fuel map, NA of course. Normally under WOT conditions and near readline my MAF load is right around 100. Under certain conditions the load can get into the 115-120 range but not very often, usually low RPM up hill, things i would not normally do. The AFRs are still ok, maybe a little rich, but if i push my map out to 120 i have issues getting the WOT tuned correctly. With the RT software i had the tune perfect, but with the SA, gears 1-2 will be 14s while 3rd will right at 12.5 with the same load/RPM values.

I changed my load values back down to around 107 at max to set a happy medium and have not been out to test it yet. Not sure if i am missing something but looking at the logs I dont know how to correct it. I will try to get a new log tonight to see if it is still happening or if i solved the issue. I can post it then to see if anyone can spot something.

I am not using closed loop yet, when i tried before it would not get my AFRs anywhere near where i wanted them to be. WB or NB, neither worked.

Setup
SR20VE
88mm 12.5:1 CP Pistons
N1 cams
4 bar fuel pressure
N60 MAF
370cc Inj
Stock intake Mani & fuel rail
Mazworx header
Cam switch at 5100

Is MAF load the same as TP? Sorry I'm not so familiar w/Nismotronic nor the OBD1 ECUs.

MAF load and TP are not the same. TP relates directly to throttle position, so 100% is WOT. MAF load correlates to engine load.

I loaded the new load values in and now it is more consistent throughout the gears. I had a log but I unplugged the ECU before saving, which locks up the software. But it is on the rich side now so i should be able to dial it in. I was able to get all the way to redline with stable AFRs, good news for me.

Calling something "MAF load" just bottles the mind.

Edit: It is starting to make some sense to me now.

Yes, it is essentially the same. Some had trouble understanding TP so we've attempted to simplify the definition and call it "MAF load" to keep from bottling (sic) the mind.

? Are we talking about the same TP? I was thinking of Theoretical Pulse-width, not throttle position.

You guys actually called it MAF load? Oh Christ. Now we're fucked. Edit: In the end, it might not be such a bad name after all. I take it back.

Don't (sic) me. I'll have you know that is a perfectly acceptable play on words that must have gone over your head.

Here's your chance to explain why MAF load boggles your mind.

Already beat to death here: http://www.sr20-forum.com/tuning/65771-how-make-your-fuel-timing-maps-aka-tp-load-scales.html

Just to clarify, that discussion is about the relationship between TP and MAP. What we are talking about here is the relationship between TP and MAF load.
