car wont start... help!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

okay so i have a 96 se-r that i am starting to turbo and i put 370cc injectors in and a z32 maf soldered in by my bro. i got a calum computer from a forum member tuned for the 370s and z32.

when i install the calum computer i turn the key to the on position and my rpm gauge flickers to about 2k and back down to zero, fan kicks on for a half a second and shuts back off and i dont hear my fuel pump kick on at all. so i dont know if this computer is junk or im just doing something wrong.

after i tried the calum and it didnt fire up i put my stock ecu back in to make sure my fuel pump isnt the problem and it isnt. kicks right on like it should. cranks but doesnt fire probably due to the z32 being installed.

I was wondering if I just got a safc II and switched the maf setting to 2 IN and 6 Out from what I researched(not 100% sure) that I could start my car with my stock ecu and the z32?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I am so right now!

Sounds like an ECU problem. I got very similar symptoms when I slipped up and put a chip into the Calum motherboard backwards. If you've got a Calum basic, you might check the chip orientation (the notch end of the chip goes to the handle end of the socket). If Calum RT, make sure all the pins are straight and the ECU cable is properly installed (all the way in).

I've never worked with the RT, but the Basics I've seen don't have any cables coming out of then. Now Calum did have some Basic models that had cables but the presence of this one leaves me with a question about what you've really got here. Can anybody confirm what we've got here from the pictures?

Also, we need to confirm what program is really on the ECU. What info do you have? Did the seller tell you what the program is? Did he provide a bin file? Just going by what's written on the box may not be correct.

So, what to do? I'm afraid that you are not going to be able to treat this ECU like a plug and play situation, as evidenced by the fact that you car won't run. You are going to have to roll your sleeves up and do some diagnostics (I'm assuming that you are new to this stuff -- please excuse if this is not the case). Or, if you want to just send it to me and also find a suitable B14 bin file that you want to use, I'll reburn your chips and send the ECU back to you. Shot in the dark but let me know via pm if want to try.

If you want to roll your sleeves up, you can probably pull the bin file through the Consult port if you have Nissan Datascan software, a laptop and an appropriate cable. You will have to search the Forums to figure out exactly how to do this.

Once you get the bin file, you will have to learn how to use TunerPro to read it and possibly change it. You can at this point, you can confirm that you VQ map fits your MAF and that your K value is correct for your MAF and injector combination. Also check Max and Min pulse width. All this can be done by comparing to other bin files posted on the Forums.

Once you locate the problem, then you can edit your bin in TunerPro and then you will need to reburn your chips using a Moates chip burner (more learning and searching). BTW, you can access the chips by removing the green daughter board and turning it over.

Food for thought. Could be something else, but these things are worth checking if you've confirmed the injector install, MAF wiring, and didn't leave something unplugged.

Sorry the seller did not leave me with any information, no bin or anything(not that i would know what to do with it) but here is the link to the sale.

Calum ecu obd2 - SR20 Forum

He is very hard to get a response from when emailing and pming and it was his brothers computer off of a 95 200sx se-r so I dont know if he knows much about it either. I dont really appreciate this guy anymore because I feel like he kind of screwed me saying he was including the maf pigtail and I never got it and he wont reply anymore so I had to get it from somebody else.

I am new to this and I was hoping for just a plug and play but i guess its not the case. I have double checked that I didnt screw up something simple and plugged everything back in but I will triple check and let you know.

On a B14 you have to unscrew the daughterboard and flip it over to get to the removable chips.
