Why was my thread deleted for lack of information?
I'm posting this question in the open because benfenner has deleted my thread in the forced induction section of the classifieds.

I followed the template that everyone has to fill out in order to sell something on this forum like i have done since we went to this new system. I have sold a ton of parts on here and always fill everything out because we cant sell stuff without doing that. I had pictures of the product, answered all questions to the best of my knowledge and even had other members speak about the product since they knew more about it due to previous ownership.

According to benfenner i did not have enough information and just deleted my post without even giving me a chance to fulfill his wishes of adding more info. This has caused me to lose money on a possible sale and find it to be very childish and unprofessional for a moderator to do such a thing. If i received a message stating add such and such info or the thread will be closed if you do not i wouldn't be as heated.

Ben if you have it out for me please do let me know i dont like you thats for sure especially after taking money out of my pocket and abusing your mod powers in my eyes.

I'm sure this will be deleted too but i will continue to post and voice my opinion as i have done for a long time on here.

@morgans432 as always, you are welcome to either start a new sale thread with the requisite information, or you can PM (or otherwise contact) forum staff with the missing information to be added, so the thread can be edited to comply with the rules, and then recovered.

I know I was not descriptive as to which items were missing. There is only so many characters I can use to describe why a thread was deleted, and I used the maximum in the note to you. There were too many missing items to list. I could have followed up with another PM, but it is my opinion that the responsibility is on the members to get things right or seek out solutions, not for the staff to chase them down.

It might not be easy to tell, but threads get deleted in this exact manner on a regular basis (per the rules). More often than not, the member corrects the issue in PMs and all is well. The other typical response is that nothing happens and the thread stays deleted and the member never contacts staff. In that respect, you were not being treated any differently. I absolutely do not "have it out for you". I can't even begin to imagine why you think I've taken money out of your pocket, nor do I remember any instances involving you where you may feel I abused my position as a moderator/admin. You may feel that way for some reason, but I don't recall it. I'm sorry. =(

Let me list the information you provided, and then list the information that is missing so that you may provide it if you so choose, and have your thread recovered. Hang tight.

This is the required information you provided in the initial post of your sale thread:

3. You said you were willing to ship.
5. You set a price.
7. You provided a picture of the item being sold.

This is the required information you failed to provide:

1. Your real name
2. Your location (City, state is sufficient)
4. Contact info (email, AIM, PM, whatever you prefer)
6. Payment options (paypal, money order, whatever)

Sometimes I will do a user a favor if they used the sale template and are still missing one or two pieces of information and hound them for it. Yours was lacking the template and missing so much information that I did not decide to hound you. It looked as if you created the thread bypassing the sale template (which is a bug we are trying to fix) which is why I suggested avoiding mobile versions of the site in the future when making sale threads. This will make sure you get the sale template to fill out, so you don't have to remember what is required.

As always, let me know the missing pieces of information for that sale and I will add it, and recover the thread for you.

@morgans432, I see you have created a new sale thread, almost identical to the first, again with a lot of missing information (which is why I deleted it as well). Please respond here and we will get this situation sorted without you having to recreate any more sale threads or duplicate any work. Please do not create any more sale threads until we get this resolved. That is unnecessary and counterproductive at this point.

And can I just say, it looks like you bypassed the sale template this second time as well. This happens when using the mobile version of the site, or through an "app". I would love to see the sale template in use, and I think your potential buyer(s) would appreciate it as well.

thats false i filled out the template. We cant even post without the information you said i am missing. I am using my computer and the template comes up every time and i fill it out with said information

i fill out the template with this:

Real name: ALex (yes i even use a capital L because my computer has it saved for that required field)
Location: NJ
Contact: PM me
Payment options: I check off paypal and cash every single time

I have been on here long enough to know the template and definitely fill it out every single time.

@morgans432 there may be a software issue preventing me from seeing the template. Let me check a few different browsers and have a few other mods check it and see what the deal is. Sit tight.

@morgans432
I have confirmed a bug in the forum software. The sale template doesn't show under certain circumstance. I've noted it on our task list of things to fix. I've also recovered your original sale thread. If you'd like to do something with your second thread (merge it? leave it deleted?), let me know.
For posterity, this is what I was seeing: https://i.imgur.com/LYlIKmX.png

This should no longer happen now that we are aware of this devious bug. Thank you for that.
I'm sorry for the trouble, and I offer my humblest of apologies. :o
