Just tired of giving people time to fix their threads.

Do your thing Cliff. You and the entire Staff have my full, 100% support.

There will be a period of uncomfortable adjustment.

That period of uncomfortable adjustment is not nearly the level of discomfort we are currently collectively experiencing with scammers, crooks, misunderstandings, miscommunication, shysters, and major-league drama.

There may be more adjustment and discomfort necessary in the following weeks or months as the Staff institutes any new protocols deemed necessary.

Whatever it takes, we should make every reasonable effort possible, to insure that our Classifieds is for honest forum members to conduct business.

As opposed to acting like a dick, perhaps you could give a warning before you delete threads? Not everyone reads the sticky threads every time they sign on.

He did give a warning. Two warnings actually, one of which was a forum-wide announcement that is almost impossible to miss and generally accepted as the best way of communicating with all forum members on timely issues such as this. And that's after a two-month long campaign by many members here to get the word out about the rules. The selling rules have been posted in all For Sale sections as an announcement since mid October of 2010, another announcement that if you missed should give you cause to have your eyes checked. Lastly, the rules have been existent on the forum since day one (although partially buried/hidden).

Short of a personally addressed post card, I don't know what more could have been done to alert members.

I feel your pain Lynx, but drastic times apparently are calling for drastic measures. The fact that even after all that you still weren't aware of the forum's rules on sales makes it clear something like this needed to happen.

If you put a lot of effort into a For Sale thread you had that got deleted (if you put a lot of effort into it, it should have the pertinent info already), I'm sure a PM to a moderator asking for a copy of it would do wonders. You could get a copy of your original post recovered and alter it to follow the rules and re-post. I know it's a lot of work to re-type something. Try getting it sent to you by asking a mod via PM.

I guess I should have my eyes checked. I did not see anything relating to this until my post was deleted. No i didn't spend a lot of time on it. Taking the time to re type it is also not the issue.

I have never had a problem with the for sale section, and if someone does not put enough information into their thread to satisfy a buyer it will only result in no one buying it. I see that as only the sellers problem. Why should I have to publicly list my phone number and email address, to post something for sale on this board? I have never had a problem buying or selling in the past. If this template is the general consensus of the board, and someone thinks it will somehow make the forum better, fine, i'm in.

Someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

First of all, way to pop shots at the Forum Administrator/Owner.

Second of all. Dont alter the template. Simply add information to the template. Don't remove any text that was in BOLD.

If that's what you're doing, then let us know and we'll look at it...

And yes, I deleted your thread. Enough is enough. If you have a problem with it, go sell your parts somewhere else. The rules were RE-posted as an announcement in OCTOBER.

It would appear that you might be having problems because the form wasn't designed to handle people living outside of the US (the state field is mandatory right now I think but obviously problematic for you in Canada). We'll make sure Crim looks into the issue for you (and everyone else outside of the US). It looks to be an oversight that should get fixed shortly.

Edit: I'm working on a test For Sale thread and I'm seeing the same errors you are. I chose a valid state and that got rid of the last error, but I'm still getting the other 9 errors. Still working on it...

I've found the problem I believe.
The template pre-fills in the formatting with a lowercase "b" for the bold sections. When I changed them to capital letters ("B") then the errors went away. For now, try capitalizing the B's used for the bold tags.

Oh, and you'll have to choose a state I think. Maybe choose Montana or something for now? =(

I'll pop shots back at anyone who pops them at me. I don't care what he admins or owns.

I didn't alter the template.

Enough is enough.... So my first infraction apparently is too much for you. I'm not an ass, nor am I a scammer, nor do I spam the boards. If I were a mod/admin, I'd be trying to hang onto every decent member that I had to enhance the community, and discourage above undesirables.

Thanks Ben, you have always been helpful.

That would be cool... Except for the fact that YOU started the shots. All you had to do was say that you were having troubles with the form, but instead you take shots and act like an ass. You only did that after taking first shot.

Cliff is just here to maintain the peace.
