Know what slick you may be right, I think I may have found the source of my issues with this clutch kit.

I will be pulling my transmission later this month. I will take some pics of my f1 clutch when its off. Im assuming it will look horrific since i have been driving on it for well over a year now but its still doing a great job in the car.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you guys that ran the f1 clutch rev match? and do it properly?

I never rev matched with any of my clutches. Anyhow I believe I found the issue in why this clutch kit, did what it did. I am noticing a trend. Problem has been taken care of I believe, a New clutch is in the car, a different company but same exact style. We shall see in a few weeks.

What you guys are missing here is that the fail point is always the disc. You should get an ACT disc and drop it in. I have seen a TON of guys use the F1 and XTD pressure plates with no issues. Why someone would use a cheap ass clutch disc on a turbo or modified setup is beyond me.

Actually, people have done tests in the past, on an XTD "STAGE 3" Pressure plate and it actually held LESS FORCE than the STOCK OEM Pressure plate did.. The Whole Clutch setup is a piece of JUNK!!!!

The only thing i've NEVER had an issue with, is they're FLYWHEELS..

Yeah its not just the disk, My buddy with his evo picked up a stage 3 XTD kit and it wouldnt hold the moment after breakin, felt worse than the stock pp, disk didnt last 10k miles before it would not grip at all any longer. POS clutch, buddies F1 racing blew springs out less than 1k miles, Its not an install error. There is no tolerances that are checked in their products, so some of you might get a stronger pp than others while some get weak ones. Same goes with the disks. Yeah the only thing thats held up is the flywheel. But its hard to mess that up. But JGY pulled that one off. lol.

Yikes, I have one of these clutches in my VVL.
Holds power great....barks 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear.
Does make weird engagement noises at times....
Had a little issue at first but believe it is my clutch cable.

Time shall tell.

I ran a cheapo ebay clutch on my det for years with no issues. My buddy ran a unsprung 6 puck and the metal plate delaminated and the rivets popped out. I would no chance it on my own car now but I have installed a few for ppl and I give them the these clutches fail warning.

How much was it? I got my Exedy stage 2 for my 97 DE on eBay and it gave me almost 18k miles with no issues when I finally sold it. I think it was $220
