It would be better if there was another port or the lower of the two ports was on the bottom to drain back into the motor. The way that one is it will fill up with oil. Maybe put it at a slight slant towards the drivers side or make a triangle shape.

That seems like an interesting mounting point. and like someone said before it will help separate the oil and the water so there won't be any sludgy stuff.

I think you are really one to something with this! This might be the best oil separator ever produced!! (minus some small refinements)

This would be a great mod for a ton of turbo guys especially the guys that plumb blow by back into the intake! The stock oil separators don't get much oil out of the blow by at all even when re routed. Everyone would get a little more used to how it looks given time and knowing that the design is heads and tales better than any thing else out there!

You want the can to fill up. You dont want any oil going back into the motor. Blow by is an acidic mixture of unburnt fuel/ moisture and contaminates. You do not want it in the motor.

I am not sure about how the fuel reacts as far as acidity so I could be way off if that is a consideration. I do know oil becomes acidic when mixed with water.

That is why your design makes me think it would work so well. Keeping the oil can over the mani like that should keep the water from merging with the oil because the water will evaporate. The only thing is if it is too hot that it breaks down the oil (somewhere over 240* ). You could always just use some clear vinyl tubing to in the lines to see what happens.
