Anyone bolted a VET valve cover on a DET head? Any issues?

I've been told it works just fine. There may be minor issues like the PCV location being different and there might be minor interference issues with a RR throttle body (likely no trouble with a DET) but the major stuff should line up perfectly and that's what I've heard. I don't see why not. VE and RR and DE and DET valve covers all interchange with no major issues.

This question really belongs in the COP thread so I'll try to get it moved there.

Does anyone think that using the DET head and putting the RR internals inside would be beneficial?

Please make a new thread for this question.

this may be a dumb question but what do you do with the destributor? replace/add/etc...

You can leave it there (it has the CAS inside so you'll need that always) and take out the rotor just for fun. You can also replace the distributor cap with a custom piece that looks cleaner. Or you can replace it all with a 20V CAS for a cleaner look.
(If it didn't have the CAS inside you could just remove it and block it off.)

So ben, continuing on our conversation from your thread.

The rwd sr ignitor has 4 built in circuits for 4 coils. Thats why i suggested using that one so you have one ignitor for all 4 coils. It has your 4 inputs from your coil pack and then 4 wires going to the ecu (one per cylinder) and a common ground

Just suggested to make for a cleaner harness.

Now as far as suggestions for my setup.

My stock B13 coil and oem wires supported 550whp without any problems with the plugs gapped down to .024 and im sure i was right at the limit of the factory ignition. Why wouldnt using the motorcycle COP's be better than one single coil. I do understand the fact that they are significantly smaller.

Would you suggest a larger coil setup maybe something aftermarket for the RWD det's?

Im having a hard time deciding on which route to go with it any help would be greatly appreciated. I will be using the AEM management as well just in case you needed to know.

Ashton just do the CDI box and COPs setup or do 4 individual external coils (such as IGN-1a race coils). Other options may/will work, but spend the little bit of extra coin and not have to worry about dicking around with it ever again.

You could go with COPs that have built in ignitors, but they aren't as strong typically.

yeah such as the s15 coils or something alike. Same with the gm coil i believe they have their own ignitor built in for using external individual coils.

If im gonna get a hotter stronger spark from doing individual larger coils that might be reasonable and using an ignitor to trigger them.

im almost thinking of doing that with some good wires. I mean hell if the stock b13 coil can keep up with 550whp and 30psi from a 60trim without blowing out spark i dont see why having 4 coils that allow more dwell time wouldnt be better and make it to say 700-750whp at around 35psi from a bit larger turbo.

Soo many options, haha

Individual external coils are the big badars setup, but also costly to do right. They will be more than enough to support your goals. Another advantage is you can isolate the coils from being directly heated by the motor so they run better.

Personally I think my next setup will be a CDI box and COPs.
