Thread: Fans won't turn on.... kinda

So I just finished my second vvl swap. passed emissions! But I noticed that the fans are not turning on, the temp gauge is not working either, I accidentally tore the connector to the gauge sender off when doing the install, but replaced it. I changed the two plug thermostat under the intake and have to wait on the gauge sender sensor to come in. Still the fans do not turn on. However if I remove the red plug from the thermostat the car drops in idle for a second and then bounces back and then the fans kick on! I have both fans wired into the fan 1 switch. They worked with the first swap. I had no problems with heating at all with the first swap. What am I missing here? I don't have a clue on what is going on. Any help or hints would be awesome. The ve swap is in a 91 nx 2k. One other question which connector is for the knock sensor, one wire black plug or two wire black plug. Forgot to take a couple pictures back there between the firewall before removing the plugs.

did you install a US coolant temp sensor?

Soooooo I feel stupid.... Wasn't getting the car hot enough to get the fans to kick on.... haha

That's sooo funny.. I did the same thing! I put a 180 T-stat in and was getting worried because at about 200 degrees the fans weren't turning on. I think the ecu won't turn them on until 210 or so
