Parking Brake Power supply for in dash DVD player?
Just bought a double din head unit that plays dvds and I need to know where to hook up this light green wire. Manual says it goes to the power side of the parking brake. Not sure where that is, thought that the ebrake on our cars was just a ground wire?

Is that so it won't turn on unless you have it pulled?

Tie that into the normal switched power.

That's exactly it. Want sure if that would make any difference somehow. I like it :-)

All of the ones i have done need to be grounded. When the parking brake is engaged the wire goes ground.

Whoops... So ground it always...
Or test with a ground first at least. Don't blow it up on my account.

It says to provide a power source, not a ground source.

So? Measure the voltage of the parking brake wire with the parking brake off. There will be some voltage there, all circuits use a pull up resistor to make sure the sense wire does not float low and falsely trigger the circuit.

Look at the picture of the parking brake, one wire is the supply side and the other is a ground. When the parking brake is engaged the "Power Supply" side goes to ground, thus letting the DVD player know the car is not moving and lets you watch your video.

Our parking brake switches don't have two wires going to them. Just one. Which is why the slight confusion.
