As for size, an 8"DVC or a 10" shallow mount driver would fit under the driver/pass seat in a compact sealed enclosure. I'd agree with Image Dynamics. JL is okay, but to me is not as crisp as it should be. I have a kicker shallow mount in the wagon, and it's actually plenty loud, though not as tight/smooth as I'd like.
Honestly, since you aren't looking for much I also concur on the bazooka tubes. Cheap, already come amplified, and easy to take out if you need room for children stuff!
my friend has one and man it sounds great. nice and clean bass from a tiny all in one package.
hope this helps
I have one in my car! It sounds great and doesn't fill your trunk. I keep the sub level at 30% and it booms!

Do you still have the basslink in your max? Yours was the reason I bought mine.

I run a jl w0 in a .5cf sealed box and it sound GREAT. 200rms is absolutely perfect for it. It's very very rare that I wish I had more bass and it's incredibly tight and responsive. I'll be hooking up a 150rms mono to it soon so I can use my 4ch to actively run my front comps.
