Curing short shifter rattles
Hey guys,

So my genuine B&M shifter used to vibrate and rattle a bit. Eventually sold that car with the shifter in it.

Now I have a brand new ebay copy sitting here, waiting to go into my new whip. It's a b13 btw. Just want to find out, since the shifter looks like a knock off of an B&M, what can I do before I install it to eliminate or at least reduce any vibrations and noise? Is there a cure for this?

Thanks

i had stock rubber bushings in my shifter and it rattled, i switched to the urethane 7/16" sway bar bushing, and the urethane shifter bushing and rattle no more

I believe I paid less than $25 for them both, and then I sold the extra sway bar bushing

How is the build quality on the ebay ones? I've been considering it.. But I'm afraid it would bend or snap with harder driving.. LMK

I don't see how anyone can drive with the stock shifter... I did a free mod and just chopped it down lol works like a charm. Hopefully that urethane mount will be the thing to stop the rattle for you

I know Bes had one snap on him right at the ball so he had to drive the car all the way home in 3rd gear.

Whats wrong with the stock shifter? I like the way it feels and have never really had an issue with one. Maybe I modify it like you did if I have the free time.

Isn't that what causes 5th gear pop-out resting your hand on the shifter?

Oh and I'm going to be the one performing the sacred ceremony of changing the air filter.
