I see the circuit board on the floor in your video. Are you saying your using that and not the AEM 4 channel igniter? Not really sure on what your using.....


and I don't own nismotronic so I have no idea lynch

It can be used with either stock ECU or Nismotronic equipped ECU. The latter is always better, since you can tune dwell in Nismotronic.

You are correct, smart coils are way cheaper. It is essentially a "double" driver circuit, the small circuit board on the floor of the car also has an ignition gate driver, so it could be used straight with smartcoils.

ebinkerd is using it with smartcoils, but for a proof of concept I tried it with more expensive dumbcoils. Smartcoils is obviously the economical way to go, but this platform can be used with whatever you have

Not much to update, ignition is superb! Been running the arduino ignition sequencer for quite some time, works really well on the road, no bugs at high rpm etc.

If you want to go COP with this setup, just use the instructions from github: https://github.com/dalathegreat/Arduino-Coil-On-Plug

Since it is running so well, development has kinda halted from my side. Ebinkerd is still gonna produce drop in purpose built cards, but he seems to manage just fine. He has much school, so for anyone anxious to quickly convert to COP this year, def look into the arduino version.

I am currently building a house+garage, so all my time is going to that now. My NX will continue late 2018, hopefully with even more advanced/overcomplicated electronics

Thank you for the update. Do you offer flashing with the avrisp for bootup times?

Edit: An overall wiring schematic would be very helpful.

I don't offer it since I am based in Finland, shipping would suck. However, you can use two cheap arduinos, and have one of them act as avrisp. That is a very cheap solution, much better than purchasing an avrisp.

Here is a crude paint schematic (also found on github):


Here's how my protocase turned out.

5V USB powers the whole thing, so I use an cigarette lighter->USB inside the car. I installed an phoenix connector to the case, and a matching one spliced into the wiring harness by the ECU. The same phoenix connector has the 4 outputs that go to the coils.

You need to tap into three signals, CR,CP & IGN:


Since I have NEMU, i set up the correct dwell parameters for my coils aswell. This is optional, but highly recommended so you don't overheat them.

Sorry kinda noob, so do I still need the CAS from the P12 for this to work? I would be putting it on a USDM B13/B14 motor.
