Another Crank problem
Just did a VE swap. But cant crank, i tried rotating the main pulley by 27mm socket but the pulley cant barely move if moving clockwise. While i can remove the pulley screw on counter clockwise.

Car has all wheels on the floor and I can push the car.

Any suggestion?

Can you rotate it by hand with the sparkplugs removed?

Is this a complete, untouched VE?

I cant bro. I pulled all the spark plugs and put brake fluid to it to somehow lubricate the pistons. I'll sit it there for 24hrs and maybe try my luck again

Yes bro, virgin from the surplus shop. It came from japan.

By the way, i already ran this engine in diff B13 last June 2013, but i didnt actually used the car. Pulled this out since the old B13 was already rusted, plus the fact that the old tranny has a defect.

I tried that before but I can loosen the 27mm bolt on the pulley. I'll try to rotate again later

That pulley nut can be a bitch, do you have a 24" breaker bar? I had an 18" and the extra 6" did it. 24" and it was off

All about leverage and sometimes a fat ass (like me) to put some retard strength on it

he's not saying he is having a problem getting the bolt loose, problem is he is loosening the bolt when he trys to rotate the engine backwards..

i wouldnt use brake fluid, i'd use marvel mystery oil or some pb blaster in the cylinders if you think they are frozen.

hopefully the bearings didnt rust to the crank, was the engine stored with oil?
