Remove a/c part under dash...anyone?
Has anyone removed the a/c part behind the dash in a b14? If so, what all is involved to do this? Does the dash have to come out or can you get it out without removing dash? Just curious, b/c I am doing a major weight reduction and that part of my a/c is the only thing left.

You mean that box next to the blower motor? Nah you don't have to remove the dash. Could screws and it should come out. Straight forward

yea, I guess it is called the evaporator or something. Has the 2 lines that feed through the firewall that hook up to the big and small lines for a/c. Just looks tight in there and wanted to see from anyone who actually pulled it out before, if it was easy or a pita.

And does it affect anything with the heater or blower as it was hooked to the blower motor, do I need to seal anything off??

Yeah when i wrecked my 98 and was stripping it for parts I pulled this piece out pretty easy IIRC. I cant say about needing to seal anything since I junked the car afterwards but as far as pulling it out, I remember it being pretty easy.

You have to pull the glove box out, then there are 5 or so screws than the whole assembly come out, then you can take that apart and remove the AC part.

If it's anything like the B13, it's easy-peasy.

Remove the glove box, then you'll see the screws to remove the evaporator. You'll need to get the non-a/c part that goes where the evaporator was if you want the blower to still actually blow over to the heater box in the center.Really, really simple.

I just took the dash out since I also took out all the plastic vent tubing and some other useless crap under the dash.
