ugh broken axle boot...what a mess
ok , seriuolsy, how is there that much damn grease in the boot??? its ridiculous . . .

so pass side axle/cv boot broke yesterday, i tried to temp fix it, and it didnt work . So now im heraing this kinda gnarly grinding noise under load when driving it..cruising the noise is/cant be heard due to the prothanes and solid front mount, but i can definely hear it,esp over 40 mph when i put the gas harder.

-almost kina like the pass axle bracket is falling off,
-the axle DOES have the rubber dampener too...

i know i need new wheel beraings, and tie rods, both ordering next few day or so from rockauto...

so is it worht the boot kit and repack the greae since it will all be apart or when i do tierods and wheel bearings,or just get a new axle?

rebuilding an axle is pretty easy and there are a couple how to's on here.

if its an oem green axle i would def rebuild it.

^^Yes what he said. If you're hearing clunking then the cv is trashed if it's coming from the axle anyway. If that's the case then you'd need a new cv end to rebuild it.

I would temp fix it for now and then get all your parts together and fix it all at once. Just be ready for the car to jump over a lane if the axle does decide to fail. from my experience the car jumps a lane to the side of the broken axle.

ok so this could explain the odd drifting/wondering...the car pulls one side when accelerating...and this clunking noise came after i noticed the boot came off...

the boot is still intact, whole and i hose clamped it on and it came off again, thats when i heard the noise.. my temp fix failed already

and it is an oem green axle..

im not driving this shit.noway

Oh pleeeause. My Pass outer Axle boot been busted for months. Drive it till you can get a new one. It will leave more of a mess than anything.

Yeah if your hearing noise from it, you might as well get a new axle. You should be fine to drive it like that for a long time. Ive replaced axles that had been making noise for a long time because of split boots and no grease. It was more the opposite. It was packed full of dirt from being completely torn all the way around for soo long. Its not gonna grenade on you or anything but the noise will get worse and worse over time. But if its grinding or popping, its done for. If its just light on acceleration it could be noise because there is no grease left and the sooner you put a new boot on and repack it full of grease the better.

As long as its not popping on tight turns you should be good again unless its really loud.

you should be good for a few thousand miles honestly. I spend more time on damaged axles then i do on good ones.

Times a million. I did mine last year before winter. Changed all the boots, c clips, other small parts, cleared the old grease out as best as I could, added a bunch more and been great ever since. Messy and time consuming but for a nice OEM set of axles, priceless.
