This is what I was thinking.Maybe the aerocatches are binding up when you pop the hood.I would try to remove the center latch and try it and see.
You obviously dont need the center one anymore.

if you have hood pins and the stock latch you must release the hood pins prior to the latch or it will not open. I am deleting the hood latch on my new setup but did used to run it on my old car. I can tell you there is no way to open the hood with the hood pins latched.

Personally I like their low-profile black ones at the bottom, $299.00 per set. Expensive, but black, low profile, unobtrusive, and very slick. No rust, blah, blah, blah....

Quik-Latch website including a video of the product being used.

Quik-Latch.com Your Authorized Dealer For Quik-Latch Products

Ordered on 09/22/2011.

I'll give a complete review of these things when they arrive, and hopefully they will work on our vehicles/hoods.

Gonna take my hood/trunk and these Quik-Latch units to my body man, soon as the latches arrive from Jegs.

I was trying to find a way to make something like that work.It would need to have a black backplate to sandwich the CF or something.
Western Motorsports - Stealth Hood Pins

Contrary to what it says in the first part of that link, that is NOT a "universal kit", it is application specific and only offered for the Mustangs per year(s) indicated.

I was initially going to buy both the Quik-Latch and the Western Motorsports units. See which ones I liked better.

Upon check-out with the WMS, the "universal kit" reverted to "Mustang...blah...blah...". So...I called them directly to find out.

IF you were to purchase the WMS unit, there is no guarantee whatsoever that the spacing between the underside of the hood and the radiator support would be within the adjustment parameters of the Western Motorsports kit. Therefore, you would likely have to custom fabricate a mount/spacer of some sort either under the hood or on top of the radiator support in order to get the correct spacing. You might also have to adjust (or replace) the cable going from each mount to the center latch. That distance may not be the same, probably isn't.

Therefore, IF these WMS units work, it will most probably be with some additional fabrication or engineering required.

^^Yeah,Shawn. No surprise there with the WMS. I knew they would require some custom fabrication. Therefore, they are not REALLY universal.
I may end up being the guinea pig and try to make them work, but not for a while.

IF those WMS units can be made to work, they would be absolutely perfect. 100% invisible from the exterior, and working in perfect harmony with the stock hood latch. That is brilliant engineering.

However, I'm gonna guinea pig the uber-expensive Quik-Latch units which really are "universal" in design. See if they are worth the mega-dollar price tag. Mostly I love their relatively stealthy appearance. No retainer cables, no pins topside, nothing really sticking up. Flat black half-dollar sized push buttons. Not quite as cool as the WMS, but definitely better than any other option I can find.

Yep those are really nice, for sure.Just wish they locked.I will stay tuned for your review.
I may try them in conjunction with a traditional hoodlock(cable style with the key under the dash)

I am looking into a way to use a high powered electromagnet setup similar to the WMS,that would be able to be on a toggle switch in the car to activate it.
May never happen, but the wheels are tuning up in my head anyway.lol

I have the sparco pins posted earlier in this thread. They do their job, but I think i might just get a stock hood if the pins visually get annoying to me. The aerocatches look big and weird when I seen them in person.

Nice. I'm interested to see how the quick latches work out for you.

I wanted to bump this thread.... I am in the market for some hood pins. I honesty want something super simple that looks decent and low key with awesome function.

I recently had a set of Aerocatch latches but, I sold them. Lets just say I am not to comfortable with cutting my hood so much to make them work. I would be OK with a nice set of slide pin latches as long as they look good LOL!

I have a set of the NRG carbon pins laying around at home, doing nothing.
