DET is longer than DE. No idea what the VE is like. Found this out much after the fact. The DE with DET pans gives you false readings that the oil level is full. It's actually about .75qt low.

Interesting. Thanks for posting. Wish you had a VE dipstick in the photo as well.

For this pic...would it be possible to line up the 2 dipsticks where they go into the holder? That's really the most important part.

A member on here found this out the hard way he used a de dipstick on his det, .75 qts low cost him a motor. I believe he made a thread about it on the other forum.

+1

Length of the handle does not matter, its from the grommet to the measuring end that matters. Also put a tape measure in there. i can measure my VE one later for reference.

thats why im asking I've been going through a quart of oil with out any leaks in my motor its been burning it off.I now know that I had the shorter ve dipstick which gave me a false reading..put the longer dip stick and it is dead on full..all this time I've been putting too much oil!

im not sure which dipstick im using, i might be using the DE one but im not really sure.. never had any issues tho. its always where it should be when i do my oil changes i never have any extra oil left nor do i need to add any.. this is very interesting an i've had my suspicions there were some differences..

my friends 16ve is using a DE dipstick because the "16ve" dipstick that came with it was too short, we put 5 quarts of oil in an it still wasnt registering at all so we had to drain some oil back out into the empty quarts an put the de dipstick in till we got a normal reading with correct amount of left over oil (like 1/4 of a quart or so)
