What type of grease for the input Shaft?
Just got the motor out of the car last night and found that the throw out bearing is dragging on the input shaft. Any suggestion on the type of grease to use.

I've used axle grease in the past (Mobile 1 synthetic - red goopy stuff). Apply lightly and wipe away any major excess that ends up anywhere it shouldn't after putting the TOB throw its motions. There might be something better though.

^^^^^^ This is what I've always used on all the clutch jobs I've done. Mostly because its in the grease gun at home, never had any issues with it BTW.

Sorry gentleman it might have worked for you but this is what most of the manufacturers recommend when doing clutch jobs...

Is called "lithium grease", just my 2 cents here. Like I said before, it might have worked for you but I don't like to take chances and go for the right stuff.

Here is what I use

I figured there was something better to use. I'll use that next time I guess.

As fas as I have did some clutch jobs is not about the grease, is more about the place where you apply the grease, I only grease the spline a little bit and remove all the excess, I do not apply grease to the TOB

well you need to put something on the shaft for it to move freely.

Last time I changed a clutch on a 93 Integra with the assistance of a friend that worked for an Acura dealer (now working for Honda...same) I was about to put some of that Amsoil syhnthetic grease till he mentioned that other types of grease usually dry up specially in this part and that is the reason Honda came up with High temp lithium grease which was specially designed for this high friction parts as well as caliper pins etc....

I think this is their new stuff Honda Super Hi-Temp Urea Grease

I know we are talking Nissan here but hey I am fairly familiar with both scenes and I trust the Honda products (lubricants, adhesives etc) in my B13

This is actually EXACTLY what I used, disregard the last post which had a different container, just to avoid confusions here...

Also be careful not to put too much of that stuff in there, remember those are perfectly machined parts and do not require tons of grease.
